Game
Lights on Disability was created to explore ways in which video games can create and include people with disabilities in both the story, dialogue and through accessibility options.

Lights on Disability uses each level to tell the story from the perspective of different disabilities. The game shares experiences of people with low or no vision, hard of hearing, mobility, neurodevelopmental, and psychiatric disabilities.

The game doesn't directly mention disabilities, but uses subtle references in the story and dialogue.

LEVEL ONE
The first level with the lights off is from the perspective of someone who
is blind. They have to navigate the world through sound alone. There are instructions combined with other sound bytes that distract and disrupt
the player.

LEVEL TWO
The second level, the player must rely on sight and reading. This perspective comes from someone who experiences loss of hearing.

LEVEL THREE
The third level describes a situation in which one must look out for obstructions. People with mobility disabilities have to navigate terrain carefully. The level imitates the idea of looking out for your surroundings and being careful about where to go.

LEVEL FOUR
The fourth level is all about organizing and keeping the wires in order. People with neurodevelopmental disabilities sometimes have very particular ways in which things need to be organized and this level shows the point of view of someone who is very particular about certain ways to be orderly. Although
this is not true of all people with neurodevelopmental disabilities, it does show an important understanding of people who rely heavily on structure and order in life.

LEVEL FIVE
The final level is about defeating monsters to get to the wire nuts and making sure they don't disrupt the completion of the level. People with psychiatric disabilities have their own struggles with keeping strong overwhelming and often negative feelings at bay and trying to make sure these feelings don't overrule them.
