Story
Although it may seem overwhelming to write and tell about people who you don't really relate to in their experience in life, telling these stories of those who can easily go unseen and unheard in society helps them have a greater voice and presence in society.

avoid stereotypes

In creating stories of characters with disabilities avoid harmful stereotypes such as using a disability as a sort of superpower or using technology to magically heal someone with a disability. Often characters with disabilities are represented as a secondary antagonist as well which only creates an understanding that disabilities are villainizing. Or even by not including disabled characters, one would further the myth that people with disabilities are rare when that is the opposite of true.
